Intramammary ointment

COMPOSITION

One injector contains:

Neomycin Sulphate 500 000 IU- Procaine benzylpenicillin 300 000 IU- Excipients up to 10g.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

ANCOMAST contains 2 active components, namely the synergistic association of the antibiotics procaine penicillin G and neomycin which shows anti-microbial activity against the most important udder pathogens (Streptococcus agalactiae, Str. dysgalactiae, Str. uberis, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium pyogenes, E. coli).

INDICATIONS

For treatment of acute mastitis during lactation.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Do not use in animals known to be hypersensitive to one of the components.

DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION

Prior to treatment, milk out the udder thoroughly, clean and disinfect teats. Thereafter inject the ointment in the teat of each infected quarter. The contents should be massaged upwards.

Dosage:

- Cow: 1 injector per infected quarter

- Sheep: ½ injector per infected udder part

Treatment should be repeated at least three times with 12 hour intervals.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

Nephrotoxic effects may occur following administration of neomycin. Penicillin may cause hypersensitivity reactions, and contact may lead to cross-resistance with other beta-lactam antibiotics.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE AND WARNINGS

Do not handle the product when you are hypersensitive, or when you are advised against working with it.
