COMPOSITION

Nitroxynil 340 mg

Excipients up to 1 ml

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Nitroxynil is very effective for treatment of infestations with mature and immature Fasciola hepatica in cattle, sheep and goats. It also acts against adult and larval Haemonchus contortus in sheep and goats, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Haemonchus plucei and Oesophagostomum radiatum in cattle. Nitroxynil is well absorbed following oral administration, but is inactivated by the ruminal bacteria, making it more suitable for injection than for oral treatment.

INDICATIONS

ANCOTROX 34 is indicated for the treatment of:

- Liver fluke infestations caused by Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantita.

- Gastrointestinal parasitism caused by Haemonchus, Oesophagostomum and Bunastomum in cattle, sheep and goats.

- Oestrus ovis in sheep and camels.

- Hookworms (Ancyclostoma and Uncinaria) in dogs.

DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION

For subcutaneous or oral administration.

Cattle, sheep, goats and camels:

- 1 ml per 35 kg bodyweight by s.c. injection. This dosage may be increased to 1.25 ml per 35 kg bodyweight in case of acute fasciolasis (immature flukes)

- 4 ml per 10 litres of drinking water by oral administration

Dogs:

- 0.55 ml per 10 kg bodyweight by S.C. injection

- 0.85 ml per 10 kg bodyweight by oral administration

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

No side effects are to be expected when dose recommendations are followed.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE AND WARNINGS

Nitroxynil stains wool or hair yellow. Care must be exercised to avoid spilling.
