COMPOSITION

Albendazole 100 mg/ml

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Aátotal spectrum multi-purpose anthelmintic for the control of the following types of internal parasites in cattle:

Gastro-intestinal roundworms: Bunostomum, Chabertia, Cooperia, Haemonchus, Nematodirus, Oesophagostomum, Ostertagia, Strongyloides and Trichostrongylus spp.

Lungworms: Dictyocaulus viviparus

Tapeworms: Moniezia expansa

Adult liver-flukes: Fasciola hepatica

In ruminants albendazole suspension is slowly and almost completely absorbed from the rumen, whereupon it is rapidly metabolized by first pass in the liver mainly to albendazole sulphoxide subsequent to albendazole sulphone and other metabolites. In ruminants it is predominantly excreted in the urine. Billiary elimination accounts for about 15 % in sheep. Most of the excreted metabolites are unconjugated.

INDICATIONS

ANIZOLE 100 is indicated in the treatment of mature and immature roundworms and lungworms, including inhibited Type II Ostertagiasis and flukes. It also removes both heads and segments of tapeworms.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Do not exceed the recommended dose in females during early pregnancy.

DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION

ANIZOLE 100 is a blue free flowing suspension for administration as an oral drench, suitable for use with most types of automatic drenching equipment.

Worm Dose: Approximately 7.5 mg albendazole per kg bodyweight. Equivalent to 7.5 ml ANIZOLE 100 per 100 kg bodyweight.

Fluke and Worm Dose: Approximately 10 mg albendazole per kg bodyweight. Equivalent to 10 ml ANIZOLE 100 per 100 kg bodyweight.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

By research and experiences in the field it was shown that albendazole is a very safe drug. No side effects are likely to be expected at recommended doses.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS

With cattle, do not exceed the fluke and worm dose during the first month of pregnancy. Cattle suffering from severe lung damage due to heavy lungworm infection may continue to cough for some weeks after treatment.
